Volleyball Australia announces new scholarship opportunity in partnership with Adelaide University Sport and Fitness
Volleyball Australia is proud to partner with Adelaide University Sport and Fitness to create a unique scholarship opportunity for volleyball athletes.
The Volleyball Australia and Adelaide University Sport and Fitness Scholarship is a high-performance athlete scholarship designed to support Australia’s elite and emerging volleyball athletes to pursue dual excellence in sport and education.
The total value of the scholarship is $10,000, comprising a $5000 cash contribution from Adelaide University Sport and Fitness (AUSF) and $5000 cash contribution from and Volleyball Australia (VA).
The scholarship reflects a shared commitment by VA and AUSF to retain and develop Australian volleyball talent domestically, ensuring athletes can remain within the VA high performance pathway, while undertaking tertiary study at Adelaide University.
By reducing financial pressure through the scholarship and supporting academic progression via the AUSF Elite Sport Program, athletes will be able to fully engage in the VA training environment and Centre of Excellence programs.
AUSF Chief Executive Officer Michelle Wilson commented: “For over 130 years Adelaide University Sport and Fitness have supported athletes to reach for their goals at the highest level and this scholarship is the most recent example of this.”
“Scholarships like this help to provide a balanced education environment for student athletes and we are proud to work with Volleyball Australia to create this opportunity.”
Volleyball Australia National Performance Director Craig Marshall said: “This partnership reflects a shared commitment to developing Australia’s volleyball athletes in a holistic way. Supporting both athletic performance and academic achievement ensures our athletes are well prepared for success during and after their sporting careers.”
“This scholarship provides valuable support for athletes pursuing both high performance volleyball and tertiary education. Partnerships such as this help us retain and develop Australian talent within our national pathway.”
