Craig Carracher AM makes multi-million dollar donation to Volleyball Australia
Craig Carracher AM has made a multi-million donation to Volleyball Australia, through the Australian Sports Foundation, to the sport he has served for over three decades.
Mr Carracher’s incredibly generous donation to Volleyball Australia (VA) is the largest in the sport’s history and will add valuable support to the sport he is most passionate about as it looks towards Brisbane 2032.
With his passion for the sport running deep, Mr Carracher has served as Volleyball Australia’s President since 2013, reappointed by his peers each year. He recently announced he will not seek re-election in 2026.
His generosity to the sport has always gone beyond financial. As a former national-level beach volleyball competitor on the Australian tour, and Life Member and a founding father of the Northern Beaches Volleyball Association, he stepped away from his law career to serve as Volleyball Australia’s CEO from 1997 through to our gold medal winning Sydney 2000 Olympics.
His commitment to serving the sport goes beyond Australia, appointed First Executive Vice President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) in 2025 and continues as Chair of Asian Beach Volleyball Council (since 2015), and a board member of the FIVB Board of Administration and Chair of the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Commission, among numerous other roles internationally.
Craig has been on the Executive Board of the Australian Olympic Committee and Australian Olympic Foundation since 2015 (at the invitation of John Coates) representing the sport with a particular focus on governance changes post Rio 2016 and encouraging greater financial recognition of athletes and coaches across the Olympic team-based sports.
Volleyball Australia CEO Andrew Dee thanked Mr Carracher for his incredible donation, one of the largest to be received by the Australian Sports Foundation.
“Craig’s commitment to volleyball in Australia is unequalled, and this donation reflects the same generosity of spirit he’s shown for more than thirty years.
“Few people have given as much of themselves to Australian volleyball as Craig has, and this donation extends that legacy, ensuring the sport continues to thrive as we prepare the next generation of athletes to compete at another home Olympic Games.
“Craig’s various domestic and international roles provide crucial insight and influence at the tables where so many important decisions are made. This, combined with his personal contributions and business insights, gives him a unique and powerful presence.” he said.
The gift adds to a growing list of contributions from Mr Carracher, who has long championed volleyball’s development at both grassroots and elite levels in Australia.
Mr Carracher’s donations satisfied the financial demands of Commonwealth Games Australia to facilitate the successful inclusion of beach volleyball in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and Birmingham 2022, where Australia won back to back gold and silver medals. He has funded numerous national team programs securing the inclusion of Australia in the World League and the World Women’s Grand Prix, hosting the finals of both, and also making significant donations to the women’s national indoor team. Craig was also instrumental in securing the financial patronage of Mrs Gina Rinehart over 10 years with the sport.
His company, The Living Company and Scape Australia have repeatedly sponsored the sports national programs, world competition hosting rights, the national beach volleyball tour and the Australian Volleyball Super League, dating back to 2015.
Craig was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for his contribution to the sport of volleyball in 2022.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
