Australian Beach Volleyball Tour gets underway in Glenelg this weekend

The 2026 Australian Beach Volleyball Tour will get underway at Glenelg Beach in South Australia this weekend, with 112 teams from across the country set to take part.

It will mark the return of beach volleyball to South Australia, having hosted the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in November 2025.

Among those set to compete this weekend, are women’s top seeds Jasmine Fleming and Lizzie Alchin, both who represented Australia at the World Championships last year.

“We’re very excited to be back in Adelaide for our first tournament of the season,” Fleming said.

“It’s always so fun to have the beach volleyball community from all around Australia in one place,” she said.

While they had different team mates for last year’s World Championships, Fleming and Alchin are enjoying their team dynamic, having first had a taste of playing together two years ago.

“Lizzie and I have really enjoyed coming back together after our brief stint as a team in 2024,” Fleming said,

“It’s our first tournament together before we hit the World Tour, so we are very keen to be back travelling and competing,” she said.

In the Men’s Elite division, all eyes will be on top seeds, and new pairing of Paris Olympian Thomas Hodges and World Championships representative Ben Hood.

Similar to Fleming/Alchin, Hood and Hodges have come together post the World Championships, and are hoping that the new dynamic will provide plenty of entertainment, and good results, on the sand.

“I’m very excited to be back playing on the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour,” Hood said.

“Our new partnership is looking strong, and we’re looking forward to using this national tour as preparation for our first international season together, starting next month,” he said.
