Opportunity of a Lifetime I Kids View on Volunteering at BVWC

Memories of a lifetime – that’s the main message from the volunteer ball kids at the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Championships.

While the elite players strived for glory, their every move was also inspiring the next generation.

We caught up with some of the volunteer ball kids to find out about their experience at the global event. Meet Darla…

Q: Name and role?
A: My name is Darla, I am from NSW and I am a FOP assistant – I retrieve the balls and rake the courts.

Q: How has your experience been as a volunteer/ball kid here?
A: It has been amazing. The chance to meet the players and get photos is insane. I have met a lot of my favourite players, which is great. Also, watching the highest level of volleyball has been amazing and nothing compares to it.

Q: Your memorable moment?
A: I was cheering for the Latvian Women (Anastasija) and after the game I got in a photo with them and that is now on their instagram. I was also cheering for the Italian Women’s Team and I also got a photo with them after.

Q: Why should someone volunteer at the BVWC?
A: Personally, if you have the chance and you can make it here you should. The level of Volleyball you see and being courtside is an opportunity of a lifetime.
