Australia’s Women Volleyroos Finish in the Top Six at the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup

The Australian Women’s Volleyroos have wrapped up their campaign at the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup, held in Candon Philippines from June 6-14.

This was their first International tournament of the 2026 season. 

The tournament began with the Volleyroos competing in Pool A, where they secured a victory in their opening match against the Philippines, the host nation, 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 25-15,15-11).

Led by co-captains Caitlin O’Dea and Mikaela Stevens, the team continued their campaign with pool matches against Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan, Korea and Uzbekistan. 

The Volleyroos were triumphant in their matches against Kyrgyzstan 3-1 (25-15, 25-27, 25-16, 25-23), along with a convincing win over Uzbekistan 3-1 (25-20, 28-30, 25-16, 25-8).

It was a close match against Chinese Taipei, the Volleyroos lost 1-3 (20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 19-25). Additionally, in their match against the tournament’s eventual victors, Korea, the Volleyroos were defeated 0-3 (18-25, 15-25, 19-25).

The Volleyroos battled through some tough matches and fought valiantly to secure a spot in the final phase of the tournament. 

On the concluding day of the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup, the Volleyroos faced off against Indonesia with both teams vying for the 5th and 6th spots in the tournament’s final rankings.

The Volleyroos faced a grueling contest, ultimately falling short of a win against the Indonesians 0-3 (13-25, 25-19, 26-24), finishing within the top six in the tournament. 

The 2026 AVC Women’s Cup was dominated by Team Korea, who secured the title after an unbeaten run throughout the tournament leading up to the final.
