VA welcomes funding to support Beach Volleyball athletes on the road to Brisbane 2032
Volleyball Australia has welcomed the Australian Government’s $513 million investment in sport, boosting support for athletes competing internationally and preparing for Brisbane 2032.
Volleyball Australia President Craig Carracher said:
“We welcome this announcement and thank the Australian Government and the Australian Sports Commission for their ongoing support of Australian high performance sport and its important role in our communities.
This investment will help our beach volleyball athletes, coaches and support staff prepare to compete at the highest level and represent Australia at a home Olympic Games in 2032.
We acknowledge that this funding is currently limited to beach volleyball and does not extend to indoor volleyball or para volleyball (sitting volleyball). These disciplines make up a significant part of our sport and play an important role in Australia’s sporting landscape.
At the same time, we believe it is important to take a holistic approach to investment across sports, genders and disciplines. Where funding is not balanced, there is a risk that existing governance, integrity, inclusion and cultural challenges within sport and the broader sporting system can be reinforced, creating cultural issues that organisations such as the AIS, AOC, CGA and the broader sporting system should be seeking to mitigate and de-risk.
Volleyball is one of the world’s most widely played team sports. Success at the elite level requires long-term investment in athletes, coaches and development pathways. As Brisbane 2032 approaches, there is an opportunity to consider how all volleyball disciplines can contribute to Australia’s sporting goals.
We repeat our call for a balanced approach to sport funding across the broader sporting system that values participation, performance, inclusion and engagement across all disciplines as athletes stand side by side across our communities. This helps strengthen pathways, improve equity and create more opportunities for Australians to pursue excellence and represent their country and removes the seemingly random ceilings imposed in our funded performance pathways
As the host nation, Australia’s indoor and para volleyball teams will automatically qualify for Brisbane 2032. These athletes deserve the opportunity to prepare and perform at the highest standard alongside their teammates across all sports.
It is also important to recognise that Volleyball Australia successfully hosted the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide without Green and Gold Runway funding. While we were proud to deliver a world-class event, the lack of government investment limited the financial returns that have historically helped support our indoor programs. At the same time, our indoor senior and junior national teams are competing in LA28 preparation tournaments across Asia this month without government funding.
We acknowledge the Australian Sports Commission’s vision for the Green and Gold Runway and its commitment to delivering a successful home Games. Volleyball Australia remains committed to working with government, the AOC and the ASC to explore how all volleyball disciplines can contribute to that goal.
To our volleyball community, we will continue advocating for investment that supports participation, development and high performance across beach, indoor and para volleyball. From young people playing in schools and clubs to athletes striving to wear the green and gold, everyone should have access to a pathway that helps them reach their potential.
We look forward to continuing discussions with the Australian Sports Commission, the AOC and CGF, and government stakeholders about how volleyball can make its strongest contribution to Australia’s success at Brisbane 2032 and beyond.”

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
