Bronze Final

DF: Yes, you are listening to the Learn English through Football podcast, or as we were known before, Languagecaster, and that message was in Spanish. Spain take on Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final later on today. And this is the first time that these two sides have met since 1966 in a World Cup. And it is the first time that the champions of Europe will face the champions of South America in the final.

But before that game we had the match between the two losing semi-finalists: France and England in what used to be known as the third-place play-off but is now called the ‘Bronze Final‘. This game is traditionally played the day before the final and generally it is understood that neither of the two teams really want to be there after losing in the semi-finals a couple of days before.

For this 2026 edition, FIFA wanted to upgrade this match from a ‘losers’ game’ to one with a bronze medal at stake. And this means we no longer call it the third-place play off and now use Bronze Final instead!

Rollercoaster

The match between France and England was a crazy one with England racing into a four-goal lead in the first half before France hit back to score three goals early in the second half. It looked like there would be an unlikely comeback from France but then England scored again to make it 5-3; then France scored again to make it 5-4 before Jude Bellingham scored England’s sixth in the final minute.

The Guardian newspaper report started with a question:

‘Where to start with this rollercoaster of a match?’

A rollercoaster goes up and down and this was what the writer wanted to show – the game was up and down with one side dominating for a bit and then the other team doing the same; we didn’t really know what was going to happen next! So, we can say that the Bronze Final was a rollercoaster game which England eventually won 6-4.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
