April Camp Wrapped 2026 – Volleyball Australia

April Camp Wrapped 2026

Throughout March and April, the National Performance Program conducted seven domestic national camps, engaging over 230 athletes and 50 coaches. With all seven camps being held at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, the camps served as talent identification, selection camps for both U18 teams for the Asian Volleyball Championships (AVC) and squad camps for the U16s and U20s men and women.

The camps spanned 25 days and hosted six junior national squads. Some camps coincided with Easter public holidays, but that didn’t detract from high-quality training and gameplay.

The block of camps commenced with the Talent Identification camp, March 27-29. This camp hosted 48 male athletes born between 2009-2013, invited to the camp based on their performances at the Australian Volley Schools competition in December 2025. This camp was led by National Coach Brendan Garlick and a team of coaches from around Australia, offering development opportunities to both the athletes and coaching staff.

The next block of camps was the U18 age groups coming onto site for squad selection for the upcoming U18 Asian Volleyball Championships to be held in July 2026, with the girls competing in Thailand and the boys in Bahrain.

Head coach Ben Hardy led the boys for the pre-Easter camp, with assistance from National Coaches Dan Ilott and Brendan Garlick. With the Asian Championships on the horizon, game preparation and performance were the priority focus for the squad and staff.

“It is always great to have a camp at the AIS.

This camp provided an opportunity to see some newer players prior to final selection of the U18 Australian indoor team.

Game preparation and performance were a focus of this camp and stay tuned for the very difficult task of player selections.” – Ben Hardy

Over the Easter long weekend, the U18 Girls, and their coaching staff were in action. Former captain of the Volleyroos indoor squad, now head coach Kell Porter led the camp.

There was a clear system in place for the athletes during the camp. Coach Porter wanted to ensure that during training sessions the way they want to play in Thailand was clear before they step on the plane. Each day was focused, giving confidence to the coaching staff and athletes.

“The highest-level camp I’ve ever coached & the athleticism of the group is really impressive.

Collectively across each coach’s meeting was “this group is fun” & “this group can win”, so bring on Asian Championships!” – Kell Porter

The final block was for our U16 and U20 age groups. The squads came together for their first activity for the year during the Volleyball takeover at the AIS. Training was purposeful and rigorous to ensure the standard for the year was set by head coaches Brendan Garlick (U16 & U20 M), Brad Merson (U16 W) and Vevin Mathew (U20 W). Across all camps, athletes were given the opportunity to work on their skills with a new group of athletes and coaches. These camps are the start of the campaign for their respective AVC tournaments in 2027.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
